Trigger and Zoo Win Ark Full of Awards

CALGARY, AB – NOVEMBER 23, 2007

TWO Golds and TWO Brass Rings… notice the theme running here? Trigger Communications & Design Ltd. and the Calgary Zoo are celebrating after adding a clutch of national and international advertising awards to their collections.

The Golds came from The Advertising & Design Club of Canada’s 2007 awards ceremony at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. They were both for Zoo School, a series of three point-of-sale posters.

The Brass Rings (top awards) were for our Giant Anteater billboard ads and Baby Giraffe billboard and print ads. These honours were received by the Calgary Zoo at the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions awards ceremony for marketing excellence, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Trigger’s Calgary Zoo creative has also earned five showings in the December 2007 Applied Arts Design & Advertising Annual (for Baby Porcupine, Baby Giraffe and Zoo School).

Patrick Doyle, Trigger’s Creative Director, said the Calgary Zoo is a great client to work with, because its marketing team “believes in the power of creativity,” and welcomes imaginative ideas that flow from the agency.

However, his team knows the bar has been set high – as Trigger has been earning awards on this account for the past five years – and with every campaign the pressure is on to further excel.

“We have fun working on this,” says Patrick. “But I must stress the results we’ve been having in increasing attendance and revenue for the Zoo. With every campaign, we try to do even better. That little bit of pressure can be quite motivating.”

Larry Bannerman, Trigger’s President, said he was particularly thrilled with the Brass Ring awards, as Calgary Zoo was competing against attractions from all over the world. Trigger campaigns also won Brass Rings in 2005, for No Substitute for the Zoo, and 2003 for Destination Africa.
