Calgary Zoo a Creative Winner

Calgary Zoo CALGARY, AB – FEBRUARY 6, 2008

The Calgary Zoo is being celebrated as one of Canada’s most award-winning advertisers.

In the February issue of Strategy magazine, a Canada-wide publication for the advertising and marketing industry, the Zoo has been ranked 12th nationally for the number of awards received for its campaigns.

And the Zoo was the highest awarded advertising client in Alberta. Its 2007 accolades included:

  • Two Golds from The Advertising and Design Club of Canada
  • Two Brass Rings (top awards) from the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions
  • A Silver and a Certificate at the Marketing Awards
  • Five showings in the Applied Arts Design & Advertising Annual
  • Four Anvils, including Best of Show, at the Ad Rodeo in Calgary

Calgary-based Trigger Communications & Design Ltd., which has been the Zoo’s Agency of Record for five years, is delighted with the attention its advertising creative has attracted. Trigger received awards for other clients in 2007 – including Community Savings, Orchard Park Shopping Centre, Calgary Drop-in & Rehab Centre, The Naval Museum of Alberta and United Way of Calgary & Area – but the Zoo was the biggest winner.

Strategy magazine named Trigger the 14th most awarded agency in Canada.

Larry Bannerman, Trigger’s President, said: “The Zoo is a great client to work with. We have a strong and collaborative partnership with them, and it seems that with every campaign we further excel with creative ideas and execution.”

Calgary Zoo The Calgary Zoo’s Wade Harper, Director, Sales and Marketing, said he was “thrilled” with the recognition the Zoo’s ads had achieved. “Trigger always brings fresh ideas to the table,” he said. “It’s great that we’ve won awards, but it’s even better that the work resonates with the public.”

Wade also congratulated Patrick Doyle, Trigger’s Creative Director, who received the most awards among his peers in Calgary, with a ranking of 19 nationally. Calgary Zoo
